A Traditional Christmas Dining Room

Last year, I decided to stop following the trends for a modern, neutral colored Christmas and bring back the traditional red and green holiday home decor. I’d like to call this Christmas decor traditional with a modern twist.

Andrew, my husband, originally built me this planter box to house a gorgeous fall arrangement I made for an Indianapolis local company’s decor and rental showroom. When it came time to put our fall decor away, I knew I wanted to make another custom piece for the planter box. If DIY is not your thing, this Christmas planter box with candle holders is pretty close to what we crated!

I found the pine tree plates at Hobby Lobby and had to have them (even if Andrew insisted they were a waste of money). They are sold out online, but these pine salad plates from World Market are a close match. I borrowed the red glassware, gold rim wine glasses and modern, gold flatware from my wedding decor studio to complete the look.

I painted our sunroom, which we use as a dining room, limousine leather, by Behr, earlier this year and seeing our Christmas decor in it leaves me with no regrets in going to the dark side! I can’t wait to host my family this holiday season and gather around this table sharing stories and wine. Lots of wine.
