Baby Girl’s Moody & Whimsical Nursery Design

As soon as we found out we were pregnant, I had the nursery design on my mind, but I waited until we found out if we were having a boy or girl before putting “pen to paper.”

We were also in the process of closing on our new, old house which needs a lot of love. As soon as I saw this little yellow room with the gorgeous floors, I knew it would make the perfect nursery!

Our house was divided up into apartments (bottom floor and top floor) for many years. This room was the upstairs apartment kitchen. You can tell where the appliances used to sit! The previous owners used this space as a small office after also using it as a nursery for both of their kids.

There is a lot that has to be done before getting to the fun part of the design! I’m currently in the process of removing the wallpaper and prepping the walls for primer, paint and the new wallpaper.

We need to hire someone to cap off the old gas line and remove a very highly placed electrical outlet from when this room was a kitchen. After that, we can prime, paint and hand the new wallpaper! We also plan to shiplap the flat ceiling and the angled ceiling area.

I have never been a fan of pink, and I love dark paint colors. This Rifle wallpaper is dark and moody but brings a touch of girly and whimsical, which I love for a little girl.

This room doesn’t really have to “grow” with her because she will move to a different bedroom when she graduates the crib, but I love that this wallpaper is versatile enough to be used outside of a nursery.

We ordered our swivel, reclining glider from BuyBuy Baby (thanks mom)! After sitting in all of them, this was easily the winner. It was a splurge, but I have a feeling we will be spending a lot of time in this chair, so it will be worth every penny. It’s customizable, and we choose the light linen color.

I was looking at ordered a small dresser to use for storage as well as the changing table, but everything online was made of MDF. I decided to look on Facebook Marketplace for something and came across a unique waterfall dresser. It’s currently stored in our garage!

The walnut crib was originally from AllModern, but I found it at a local Salvage store for half the price! I’ve been able to find it on a few websites, but AllModern doesn’t seem to be selling it anymore.

I ordered the laundry hamper and hummingbird mobile from Pottery Barn. The hamper is stuck in shipping! I have a few more accessories I want to order, but most of the items are sitting around our house waiting on the walls to be finished!

We have quite a bit of work to do before we can move in the furniture and “finish” the space, but I can’t wait to style this room and see it all come together. We are so excited for this little blessing baby to join us.
