If you caught my Instagram stories last weekend, I randomly decided to spend Saturday painting our bathroom… black! Honestly, I was torn between white and black or just straight black and we happened to have an entire gallon of Behr Limousine Leather in satin, so black it was. I have no regrets!

We have been painting and painting and painting since we moved in a year ago. The bathroom was one space we hadn’t touched AT ALL. It was a brownish purple color with dirty cream trim. One of the previous owners clearly attempted to renovate the space as there is a new pedestal sink and builder grade ceramic flooring.

You can tell that they dry walled over the ceiling and the tile that used to run half way up the wall which is a serious bummer. They also replaced the brass claw foot fixtures with chrome ones, but I found the brass faucet in the linen closet. The tore of the original trim and screwed it on. There is some trim missing behind the tub, but I’m just working with what we were given.

A black bathroom is definitely a bold choice, but we like bold around here! I really love the satin finish, too. It’s the same paint I used to redo our staircase. I’ve been pinning away black bathrooms this week to get inspired for how I want to finish this project. Here are some of my favorites:

I had to go out of town for a business trip the next morning after painting the bathroom, so this weekend, I get to think about styling it! You guys know that I’m on a TIGHT budget this year with the wedding, so I have to get creative. I’m planning on spray painting the claw foot tub shower fixtures brass, switching out the linen closet door pulls to brass, replacing the mirror and the sconces that flank it, purchasing a rug and a window covering, and then installing handmade shelves above the toilet.
