Buying a mattress online has become super common, but it can also be a little tricky. We have bought four different mattresses online & all of them have been great, but our new Awara mattress takes the cake!
I’ll start my review with a little backstory on our mattress situation so you know where we are coming from. We moved into our house in Michigan in fall of 2017. New house, meant new mattress.
We ordered a queen online and it slept fantastic, but months later, we were kicking ourselves for not getting a king. My husband gave me a big “I told you so,” because he wanted to order a King right off the bat and I talked him out of it.
When Awara reached out about a collaboration, I jumped on the opportunity to upgrade our queen mattress to a king. I’ll be honest, we were a little skeptical because we loved our last mattress, but a few weeks later, we have nothing but good things to say about our new one!
Miranda’s Awara Mattress Review
First of all, this mattress was HEAVY, and I struggled helping Andrew get it up the stairs. Unpacking it as actually kind of fun (as weird as that sounds). We set up our new king platform bed, removed the outer plastic from the mattress, but keep the main plastic around the mattress that was keeping it compressed, we set it on the bed frame and then cut the thick plastic off to watch it expand! It was pretty cool! The mattress popped right up in seconds.
We waited until the next day to sleep on it. The first night, I wasn’t sure if i liked it. The mattress isn’t like a solid memory foam one. It’s a lot taller and more substantial and it has a bounce to it. The very top layer is kind of like a pillow top, but I would call the actual mattress medium in terms of how firm it is. It’s not squishy and it’s not hard as a rock.
After a week, it really grew on me, especially the bounce. I’ve been sleeping like a baby and I LOVE having a King. I finally have space to sleep however I like. There is even room for the dog to snuggle.
Andrew’s Awara Mattress Review
The mattress was dropped off promptly. It appeared to be package well, but it weighed a ton! After moving it inside (and having my wife help me move it up the stairs) it was easy to unwrap on the bed frame where it expanded rather rapidly. We did allow at 1 day to expand before sleeping on it.
The first night I will admit was somewhat uncomfortable and I am unsure if this is because we did not give it a full 2 to 3 days to expand. Every night since then has been incredibly restful sleep! I would recommend this mattress to anybody looking for a king-size mattress.
