Fall is here! The nights are cooler; the days are shorter. The holidays with all their accompanying hustle and bustle will be here before we know it! But for now, let’s enjoy the first holiday of the season: Halloween.
Did you know that Halloween started as a Celtic festival? It’s origins are found in the ancient tradition of Samhain, when people wore costumes to confuse ghosts. Eventually, the Catholic church renamed the night All Hallows Eve which was then shortened to — you guessed it — Halloween.
This year, I partnered with World Market to create a Halloween drink. Thankfully, we don’t have to ward off any ghosts. Instead, we’re welcoming the holiday spirit of fun and mischief with a Halloween-themed bar cart!
I’ve never been a fan of traditional Halloween decor. When I saw this gorgeous, circular brass cart with black glass, I knew it was the perfect base for a classic, but spooky Halloween scene.
I styled my cart with a mix of faux and dried foliage, candles, and vases — all from World Market. The varied textures keep the eye entertained and create interest. I love the dark autumnal aesthetic this combo creates. Perfect for a slightly more grown-up Halloween party!
Maple Cranberry Whisky Cocktail
Shake up something spooktacular with this delicious fall-themed whiskey cocktail. Here’s what you need.
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 ounces of your favorite whiskey.
- 3 ounces of cranberry juice
- 2 ounces of real maple syrup
- Shake with muddled blackberries and cranberries
- Top with garnish
- Drop in a tiny chunk of dry ice.
I used Redemption Rye, which has a classic rye spiciness that pairs well with the syrup and dark fruits. The dry ice will froth and bubble like a witch’s cauldron — the perfect trick to impress your guests!
