The laundry room is painted! That is as far as we have gotten over the past week and a half, but progress is progress, so I am celebrating. If you didn’t see our mudroom/laundry room before we get started, go look at those photos!
They give you a true idea of what two simple cans of white paint can do. There is TONS left to do in this room, but we were hosting friends and family, so I wanted to at least get it painted before they arrived. We still need to paint the ceiling in this room (along with ALL the ceilings in the house). I’m really considering hiring that part out. I HATE painting ceilings.
This entire project was ignited because I wanted a place for this antique record cabinet. It was one of those pieces where I found it and couldn’t part with it. The turn table and the radio folds out of the top compartments. There is storage in the lower right cabinet which is perfect for hiding our mud room junk. For real, does anyone else have a room in the house where ALL the junk ends up? Like, whatever crap you pull out of every other room ends up collecting in the “junk” room. That is this room for us. There is constantly stuff stacked up on the washer and dryer. Coats, backpacks, laundry, and mail. It all goes to this room to die.
Laundry Room To-Do List
- Paint the ceiling (yuck)
- Paint the door black
- Order a new light fixture
- Install the new light fixture
- Decide if we want to buy new washer & dryer
- Decide between wood shelves or cabinets
- Purchase a vintage rug
- Purchase roman shades for the windows
- Purchase hamper, fake plants, glass containers, baskets
We really need to decide if we are going to invest in a new washer and dryer. I honestly don’t think we will. Ours work perfectly fine, so it seems kind of silly to replace them for aesthetic. That’s really not how we roll. My goal is to work on the shelves/cabinets next. I’m leaning towards cabinets because our home is so short on storage space. I found extra black paint in our storage closet, so that’s an easy win to get the door painted!
