Welcome to our home! We have lived here for just over a year now and are slowly making this house into our own. When we purchased the place, it was dark, sad and dirty. It has come a long way from when we first moved in. We put a fresh coat of white paint in almost every room and it has brightened up the house so much!
Andrew moved into the house with just an air mattress a couple months before I did. We slowly started purchasing furniture like our dining room table and chairs, new mattress and sectional. The house is so big and a couple rooms still remain empty!
My Style: I love blending vintage and modern pieces. I would use words like bold, industrial, and boho when it comes to the vibe of our home.
Inspiration: Most of my inspiration comes from Instagram! I love following other home decor bloggers working with a tight budget. I am also a treasure hunter and when I fall in love with pieces, I simply find a way to make them work in our home.
Favorite Feature: I love all of the french doors in our home (We have three). Most people want an open floor plan, but the doors are beautiful and make it so cozy. They also keep our fur children from destroying the place while we aren’t watching them!
Biggest Challenge: We have a double parlor and the one adjacent to the living room is empty! It’s a weird space with a large bay window, and I haven’t found the right furniture for the room, so it’s absolutely empty.
Proudest DIY: We refreshed our kitchen on a shoestring budget ($500), and it is nowhere near my dream kitchen, but it looks SO much better than when we first moved in. We painted the entire room, the cabinets, replaced the light fixture, switched out the stove, and bought new hardware. I have to say, I am also super proud of the shelves we made for nightstands in our bedroom!
Biggest Indulgence: Our sectional in the living room was a pretty large purchase (for us), but a good sofa is always worth the investment. It’s a piece you can use for years to come.
Best Advice: Don’t rush furnishing and decorating your home! Take your time to find and source items that bring you great joy. You don’t need a lot of money to make your house a home. Be patient and find items that speak to you! Also, don’t think too hard about decorating! Just listen to your gut.

The hardest part for me about this house is knowing we have to sell it in just over a year when Andrew finishes his medical residency! We have put so much work into it, and I will be so sad to leave it behind. That said, a new chapter will await us next year, and it will likely come with another big project (depending on where we land)! We aren’t sure if we will rent or buy next, so I’m embracing the unknown and enjoying every bit of this pretty, Victorian home while I can.
Do you use the same paint for the walls and baseboards? Love this home!
Yes! I do 🙂 Eggshell on the walls and satin on trim

Such a beautiful place!! Where did you get the dining room chandelier??
Thank you! It’s from Menards
What rug did you use under the metal bed frame? I love it!
It was a vintage rug!
Where did you get the red rug in the dining room?
It’s from RugSource!
Just stumbled on this. Love! Did you use Polar Bear on you ceiling too??
Thanks! No, we typically use a plain flat ceiling paint!
Love the post!!! Will polar bear on the walls with warmer(Behr Swiss coffee) trim and fireplace, with flat white ceiling, look odd?
Thank you! The ceiling never seems to be a big deal and we always use flat. I think it would look great!
Just found this. Where did you find the ceiling light in the hall entry way?
It’s an antique I thrifted!

I enjoyed seeing Polar Bear in all your rooms. Our bathroom has gray tile on the floor and in the shower. Walls were painted gray by previous owner and the shower curtain and the window shade are gray too! It’s just too much. I plan to paint the walls Polar Bear and add color with towels and rugs. Need to minimize the gray. You have inspired me. Thanks!
