I decided to sign up for the One Room Challenge (ORC) on a total whim! I was up late one night working and a friend texted me her ORC mood board and I felt inspired to join in on the fun as a guest participant. If you are unfamiliar with the One Room Challenge, here is the full scoop!
The One Room Challenge
In addition to following along, everyone with a blog or Instagram account, is welcome to join the fun as a Guest Participant by linking their own room transformations up during the six weeks. Each Thursday, the Internet and social media are flooded with interior design inspiration, ideas, and encouragement.
The Empty Parlor
We have lived in our Victorian home for over a year now and one of our parlors is completely empty. The space has absolutely stumped me in regards to what function it should actually serve. The parlor is situated between the dining room and the other parlor. All three spaces are open to one another. The empty parlor has a bay window on one side and a fireplace and French doors on the other making for a tricky layout to furnish.
We contemplated using the area for a work space, a sitting area, a lounge, or another living room. In the end, the space is going to be transformed into a cozy room where you would want to curl up with a hot cup of coffee and a good book!
I really want to bring out the more traditional side of our home with antique elements and bold colors and textures. I really love the blush pink walls, but I don’t think Andrew is on board. We are going to blend leather, velvet, walnut wood and traditional Persian patterns. I already have a couple pieces I plan to incorporate like an oversized gold framed mirror and a stunning, tall mid-century hutch.
