Alright guys, it is week three of the One Room Challenge. If you missed week one or week two you can click to get caught up before diving into week three progress. It was a pretty slow week because I’m swamped at work. The pocketbook is also running quite dry as we approach our destination wedding. Also, please dismiss the weird furniture arrangement. We have a lot of work to do to acquire the right pieces for this space.

Painting is Complete

The main thing I did this week was finish painting the room One to Remember by Behr (I used an eggshell finish). If you read last week’s post, you know that I painted three of the walls and wasn’t sure if we should paint the fireplace wall. I needed to live with it white for a few days before making the commitment to pink. I am SO glad we painted the fireplace wall. It was definitely the right choice. The room feels much more cohesive now.

We placed the mirror back on the mantle and decided to set it up vertically this time. I am loving how it elongates the room. I found this beauty at Goodwill last time I was in Indianapolis. Of course I hauled it back with me (along with these chairs that need to go somewhere else)! It also reflects tons of light! The image below inspired me to flank the mirror with lamps.

And, ironically enough, I’m stealing a DIY lamp idea from our church. They basically take old, glass lamp bases and install an Edison bulb with no shade, and I’m obsessed with how they look!

Matching Persian Rugs

I ordered “matching” Persian rugs for the living and dining room to help unify the space. They are VERY red and that was exactly what we had in mind. A last minute furniture collaborations has me on the fence and potentially changing my mind (Cue the forehead sweat drop emoji). Both of these rugs are available over at Thoughtfully Thrifted!

Custom Picture Frames

I also hung up my frames from Custom Picture Frames. I love these frames! They are simple, clean, and lightweight. The best part about them is that they are anti-glare. Every home decor blogger/Instagrammer (Is that a thing?) knows that glass frames reflect super badly when taking interior photographs, so these are simply amazing. I’m partnering up with a fellow small business owner to find the perfect prints for them, so stay tuned!

Writing this post makes me realize how much more I actually have to do. I wanted to order bamboo blinds for the windows, but that may have to wait due to budget constraints. I need to finalize prints, furniture, and then there is the fun styling part where I find cool vintage knick knacks to fill out the space. Oh and my lamp DIY of course! I’ll be sure to share that on the blog.

There are so many talents interior bloggers participating in this challenge. Be sure to check out the participants as well as the guest participants over on the One Room Challenge blog!
