A dining room with black walls? YES. This is probably my favorite room I have ever designed. The walls were rich with contrast, the wood warmed everything up and the Persian rug tied all of the old and new together.

Persian rugs are an investment! I hear so many people say they don’t want to purchase a “nice” rug because they have kids or pets, but here is the thing, if you purchase a Persian rug, it will last for YEARS when taken care of regardless if you have kids or pets. I’ve bought so many cheap, machine made rugs that I had no way to clean, and they ended up going in the trash can. With a good professional cleaning, a handmade rug with pile will look brand new.

I’m a little late to the party blogging this trip, but it was just too cute not to share. Last month, we snuck away for a much needed weekend of quality time and relaxation. We rented the most adorable cabin in Sawyer, MI, just a few short miles away from the Warren Dunes. To my surprise there were antique shops EVERYWHERE, which was icing on the cake!
