Sometimes it’s hard to put a name to your decor style. I’ve used words like vintage, boho, or eclectic to describe our ever-growing, ever-changing home. I love moody colors, bold choices, rich textiles, and vintage treasures. But now that we have a little one, my number one priority is liveability.

I’m a firm believer that your home should function for your life and your family. No matter what Pinterest or Instagram may show you, no one’s home is picture-perfect all the time. Dog hair gets on the couch; baby toys spill across the floor; dishes pile in the sink. Houses are meant to be lived in, after all! But a busy family life doesn’t require you to totally sacrifice beautiful style. So today I’m sharing a few tips for curating a stylish but liveable vintage aesthetic. These tricks of the trade have helped me curate the home of my dreams — and maybe they will inspire you too!

Don’t be afraid to use color. Think of your walls as a big canvas. A great paint color can really set the mood in a room, like this parisian pink in our old parlor or this sage green in our guest room. While I do love white walls, I’ve always loved bold color choices. It’s a great way to transform a room without breaking your budget.

Invite warmth and texture with a vintage rug. Once upon a time, I sourced and sold vintage rugs. My love for vintage-style rugs still burns strong. In my opinion, a good rug can make or break a room. Some of my vintage rugs are well over a hundred years old. Real wool cleans easily and can stand the test of time — and family! Read this post to learn how to source vintage Persian rugs. Not in the market for vintage? Check out these beautiful and affordable options on Wayfair: here, here, and here.

Blend vintage finds with new pieces. I love shopping thrift shops, salvage yards, and Facebook Market for one-of-a-kind treasures. In fact, our current living room couch and coffee table are Facebook finds! I love to blend vintage pieces with new items for functionality. This nightstand set from Wayfair has that mid-century vibe I love. This blush accent chair and sleek leather couch also offer great style at a steal.

Plus, don’t miss out on Way Day! Way Day is the biggest and best Wayfair sale and it’s happening all day Wednesday and Thursday! Starting Wednesday, 4/27 (midnight EST) through Friday, 4/29 (3am EST) Wayfair will have their lowest prices of the year!

Creating a beautiful, liveable space doesn’t have to break the bank. Small changes (a new rug, new throw pillows, a new nightstand, or even a new paint color) can complete transform a room. If you’ve been longing for a refresh, I recommend checking out Wayfair’s Way Day sale. They offer statement-making pieces from great brands — and at jaw-dropping prices.
