An Eclectic Dining Room with an Unconventional Wall Color

A dining room with black walls? YES. This is probably my favorite room I have ever designed. The walls were rich with contrast, the wood warmed everything up and the vintage Persian rug tied all of the old and new together.

This home did not have an eat-in kitchen so every single meal was shared around this table. Morning light streamed in from the windows covered in detailed woodwork, and the Edison bulbs set the mood for late night dinner and entertaining.

The wall colors are all Behr paint. The black is Limousine Leather in eggshell, the white is Polar Bear white in eggshell (trim and under the chair rail), and the pink door is One to Remember.

The dining table was from a local furniture store. Half of the chairs were purchased new and the other half thrifted. The big, round acacia mirror, oversized art and striped table runner were lucky HomeGoods find.

Menard’s Home Improvement lighting section came through with the affordable Edison bulb chandelier. The sconces flanking the mirror were there when we bought the house. I planned to replace them, but they ended up working just fine!

I loved this dining room design so much that I used it for inspiration in our main bedroom in the new house! The rich colors and eclectic furniture just feels so ME and that is the best of the best when it comes to home decor and design.

We actually sold the dining table and chairs with the house! All the bottles of wine and lingering dinner conversations shared here will forever hold a special place in my heart! Isn’t that what home is all about?!
