The laundry room is painted! That is as far as we have gotten over the past week and a half, but progress is progress, so I am celebrating. If you didn’t see our mudroom/laundry room before we get started, go look at those photos!
I have been putting off the mudroom since we moved in almost two years ago. It’s one of the only rooms in the house that hasn’t been touched what so ever. It’s dirty and grimy and even the light fixture is covered in cobwebs. I can’t believe I’m admitting that to the Internet. The good news, I started scrubbing it down today to prep for paint! I’m going with my tried and true Polar Bear White from Behr Pain.
Our house was built in 1888, and we don’t have a lot of overhead lighting. Because of that, we have lamps in almost every room! There is something so cozy about using lamps instead of overhead lighting.
I can’t believe the One Room Challenge reveal day is here. When I signed up as a guest participant, I failed to acknowledge the fact I would be traveling for two of the five weeks I did most most the work and product sourcing up front.
Well folks, here we are at week four and the room looks EXACTLY the same as it did last week. When my to-list is a mile long, home projects are the first to slide. That said, I found the perfect vintage lamp bases to create our DIY Edison bulb lamps to flank the mirror, and I also picked out prints for my empty picture frames. My sweet friend Colette is launching a print shop over at The Lipstick Lens and I can’t wait for you to see her work! I’m obsessed with the pair of prints we landed on.
Alright guys, it is week three of the One Room Challenge. If you missed week one or week two you can click to get caught up before diving into week three progress. It was a pretty slow week because I’m swamped at work. The pocketbook is also running quite dry as we approach our destination wedding.
Alright folks, we are one week into the One Room Challenge and our painting is almost complete! If you missed the week one post, you can read it here. You can also see what this room looked like a week ago! We are going for a cozy, Parisian parlor with an industrial twist. We went into the week thinking we would do a pink accent wall, and we came out of the week with a completely pink parlor. I wanted this from the beginning, but it took a little convincing for the husband.
I decided to sign up for the One Room Challenge (ORC) on a total whim! I was up late one night working and a friend texted me her ORC mood board and I felt inspired to join in on the fun as a guest participant. If you are unfamiliar with the One Room Challenge, here is the full scoop!
Persian rugs are an investment! I hear so many people say they don’t want to purchase a “nice” rug because they have kids or pets, but here is the thing, if you purchase a Persian rug, it will last for YEARS when taken care of regardless if you have kids or pets. I’ve bought so many cheap, machine made rugs that I had no way to clean, and they ended up going in the trash can. With a good professional cleaning, a handmade rug with pile will look brand new.
If you have been following along with my vintage, campaign nightstand shenanigans on Instagram then you might know why I’m writing this post! Styling nightstands and shelves has never been my strong suite. I love placing and selecting furniture, but when it comes to the smaller details of the room, I’m out of my comfort zone. I had to look to Pinterest for some inspiration on how to style my nightstands.
A woman can never have too many accent chairs! I used to have an actual chair problem (maybe I still do). Most of the ones we have in our house right now were thrifted, but I need a pair and that can be so hard to find. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite Wayfair finds. They range in style and price.
Welcome to our home! We have lived here for just over a year now and are slowly making this house into our own. When we purchased the place, it was dark, sad and dirty. It has come a long way from when we first moved in. We put a fresh coat of white paint in almost every room and it has brightened up the house so much!
I randomly bring up our empty double parlor ALL of the time. I love a cozy home and this room is just so bare and empty! If I had all of the money in the world, I would buy more furniture to fill it up, but that is just not the case. It’s also an awkward space. It sits between the dining room and living room and boasts a huge bay window and a fireplace flanked by French doors. The other sides of the room are open to the dining room and the living room. I can’t quite figure out what to even source for it since the layout is so complicated.
