One Room Challenge: Hello, Dusty Pink Paint - Week Two

Alright folks, we are one week into the One Room Challenge and our painting is almost complete! If you missed the week one post, you can read it here. You can also see what this room looked like a week ago! We are going for a cozy, Parisian parlor with an industrial twist.

The Dusty Pink Paint

We went into the week thinking we would do a pink accent wall, and we came out of the week with a completely pink parlor. I wanted this from the beginning, but it took a little convincing for the husband. The color is One to Remember by Behr Paint. I used eggshell in the parlor. I always, always buy Behr Marquee from Home Depot. I’ve tried so many different brands and types of paint and Marquee is my absolute favorite. White is the only color we have had to do two coats.

A couple days after I painted, we were sitting in the living room and he said, I quote, “I think we need to paint the fireplace wall, too.” Heard that clear as day, so I’m going to finish that wall this week and then get the mirror hung up (which also needs painted). This view of the room is definitely the saddest at this point.

A $25.00 Leather Sofa

I desperately wanted a midcentury modern, buttery, cognac colored, leather sofa, but that wasn’t in our budget, so I took to Facebook marketplace. I hunted for hours and hours online for a used sofa. Couches are NOT the easiest thing to buy secondhand. I finally found a funky, black leather, love seat and knew it would be perfect for the window! I contacted the lady and Andrew picked it up same day on his way home from work. It is perfect, and we only paid $25.00 for it! I stole the green velvet pillows and throw from the other parlor to cozy it up.

Midcentury China Cabinet

It is looking like the pretty, midcentury, China cabinet with gold detail is staying in this space. I thrifted it a few weeks ago to use as a kitchen pantry, but once it was in the house, it didn’t feel right for the kitchen. Also, when I saw it contrast against the pink paint, I knew it should stay right where it was! We need to repair the back of it. It has a thin piece of wood covering half the back and the other half the cabinet is just open and you can see the pink wall. I can’t decide if I want to close in the back or just show off the pink paint. Currently, it’s filled with antiques which will be headed to the shop soon.

A Persian Rug

The other thing we completed this week was purchasing a Persian rug for the space! Being a crazy rug lady, I knew I wanted to splurge a little on this purchase. I ended up buying two rugs to give us options. One will go in the parlor and the other in the dining room. Since these spaces are so open to one another, I needed a way to bridge them aesthetically. Both will eventually be available for sale over on Thoughtfully Thrifted. Itching for them to come in the mail!
