This weekend, I started refreshing our main entryway. I was itching for a house project, but needed to spend as little money as humanly possible (wedding planning probs). It’s a space we haven’t touched since we moved in. When you open our front door, the staircase is beautiful, but the space is tight, and the walls were a light purple. To top it off, we still have the midget, cheetah curtain that came with the house covering the window next to the front door.
Okay, you guys have been head over heels for my black, metal, platform bed I got off of Wayfair. It has been sold out for a little while now, so I wanted to share my other favorites from when I was shopping! The one I ended up going with seemed like a total steal for $158.00 and free shipping. The platform beds below vary in price, but there are a couple that I’m drooling over, like the canopy beds. Unfortunately, we have to use a really low headboard because of our angled ceilings.
Ekkk! I finally got my butt around to making a mood board for our wedding. This post was originally drafted two months ago when we first got engaged, but alas, I finally finished it. Long before the proposal, Andrew and I had debated between eloping and a small destination wedding. We knew we wanted one or the other, and after the proposal we landed on a small destination wedding.
I can’t believe I am 25 years old today. No clue why, but 25 seems so much older than 24. If you didn’t know my age before, that number might come as a surprise to you. It often does to strangers online! Anyway, year 24 was an absolute whirlwind spent with my best friend. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. So many major life milestones and each one came as a blessing and sometimes a challenge. I love being able to look back on so many wonderful memories, and I know year 25 is going to be the best one yet!
Our nine day trip to Italy, was, well, an adventure. When we got back home everyone asked the classic, “How was your trip?” Our answer, “Um, 50/50.” Let’s start from the very beginning. We left our house Friday afternoon to drive to the Chicago airport (about a 3 hour drive). Our flight was due to leave at 9:30PM. We parked in economy (Life goal is to always park in the garage) and then waited for a bus for 35 minutes only to discover that the bus wasn’t running to that stop.
I can’t believe it has already been two months since our engagement! Where in the hell does time go? Back in July, Andrew and I had started planning weekly dates as advised by my amazing life coach (more on her and that experience coming soon). We alternate back and fourth on who plans the date. It was mid-august and Andrew’s week to plan the date.
We love to travel, but sometimes it feels nearly impossible with limited time off of work and a tight budget. Earlier this year, we made the decision to take one big trip in 2018. Four months ago, we landed on Italy. With help from my world traveler brother, we decided to fly into Florence, spend a few days in Tuscany and then travel down to the Amalfi Coast. You guys know I’m a thrifty gal when it comes to my home, and the same goes for our travels. With one day left before we board our international flight, I’m scrambling with last minute details.
Our bedroom has gone through quite a few “phases” since we moved in last fall. I’ve recapped them below for your amusement. That said, I’m finally feeling like I have a vision for this house and the vibe I want to go for. I truly believe design is a journey and not a destination.
I’m finally ready to share some photos of our budget kitchen updates. Initially, I wanted to gut this thing, but I knew that was not financially smart for us. That said, I couldn’t live with our disgusting, outdated kitchen. A little, jk a lot, of paint, and some elbow grease have gone a long way on this kitchen. It might not be my dream kitchen, but it feels so much fresher than it did with what we were able to do on a $500 budget!
This one is for all the hearts out there wondering if love will ever find them. I want to share my story (thus far) with you. Not to cheer on my own happy, new beginning, but to give you a glimpse into the REAL side of my life & love.
