Sometimes I meticulously plan our renovations and room makeovers. And sometimes life just throws a re-design into my path. Or in the case of our master bedroom closet… life knocks the rails off the wall, dramatically collapses everything, and forces me to take stock.
But you know what? What could have been a giant mess turned out to be the perfect excuse to re-design and maximize our master closet space. Because our closet used to be a sleeping porch, the layout was a bit awkward. Thankfully, I don’t mind a challenge.
First, I added a coat of black paint to the closet’s back wall. After all, who says you can’t paint a closet? So often these spaces go unnoticed in our homes. But there is no reason that good design can’t extend into our storage areas. Then we assembled and installed white wardrobes from IKEA. A gold industrial-style shelf provided the perfect landing spot for heels and boots.
The paint color is Tricorn black by Sherwin Williams, and you can find our wardrobes at IKEA. Swapping out the stock hardware for brass contemporary pulls from Home Depot was a little design touch that created a custom feel.
