Sometimes I meticulously plan our renovations. And sometimes life just throws a re-design into my path. Or in the case of our master bedroom closet… life knocks the rails off the wall, dramatically collapses everything, and forces me to take stock.

Better late than never! Our moody main bedroom makeover is finally here. This was an extremely challenging time to work on a house project. There were shipping delays, stores were closed and we froze spending in case we needed our savings. Not to mention, I was only living at our house for about 20% of the time.

I’ve been buying, collecting and selling handmade rugs for about 5 years now. They hold a special place in my heart! Vintage rugs add the perfect amount of collected and cozy to every room. There are so many places to find vintage rugs, but here are my favorites!

But… it took us listing our house on the market to do something about our bathroom. It’s by no means my dream bathroom, but it’s leaps and bounds better than before! Yes, everyone thought I was insane for wanting to paint my bathroom black, but I did it anyways. That’s just how I roll.

It was a pretty slow week because I’m swamped at work. The pocketbook is also running quite dry as we approach our destination wedding.

Persian rugs are an investment! I hear so many people say they don’t want to purchase a “nice” rug because they have kids or pets, but here is the thing, if you purchase a Persian rug, it will last for YEARS when taken care of regardless if you have kids or pets. I’ve bought so many cheap, machine made rugs that I had no way to clean, and they ended up going in the trash can. With a good professional cleaning, a handmade rug with pile will look brand new.

Our bedroom has gone through quite a few “phases” since we moved in last fall. I’ve recapped them below for your amusement. That said, I’m finally feeling like I have a vision for this house and the vibe I want to go for. I truly believe design is a journey and not a destination.
