When we first toured our home, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the living room. The green wallpaper, built-in bookshelves, limestone fireplace, and large windows fill this room with character. It’s one of the only rooms where we are leaving the wallpaper.
As pretty as this room was, the gorgeous hardwood floors were covered up by dirty old carpet, and the room didn’t have any overhead lighting. The two big projects in here were refinishing the hardwood floors and having recessed lighting installed (we went with 8).
The window trim, crown molding, baseboards and ceiling all needed fresh paint, but once that was done, I couldn’t wait to style this space! It reminds me so much of an old library, so that was my inspiration.
Being on a tight budget for furniture, I searched Facebook Marketplace on the daily. I hit the jackpot when I found this leather couch! Yes, it has been loved on, but that works perfectly for us since we have two dogs and a baby on the way. The coffee table was also a Facebook Marketplace find.
The art in this room is a combination of hand-me-downs from my parents and Goodwill finds. All of the “nicknacks” have been collected over the years and most of those are thrifted, too!
The real conversation piece in this room is the stunning vintage rug from Revival Rugs (It was kindly gifted). It pulls together the entire look and feel of the room, and I couldn’t be happier with the colors and how they play off of the green walls. It’s definitely one of those “when the rug made the room” situations! You can take 10% off your Revival rugs purchase using code THOUGHTFULLY10.

This actually isn’t a full living room reveal because this is only half of the room! The other side still needs a lot of love, but I’m giving myself grace and time to find the perfect pieces. In the meantime, we are thoroughly enjoying hanging out in this cozy space in front of the fireplace!
