You’ve picked out the perfect heels and red dress. Your hair is perfect, your makeup somehow even more so. You’ve spritzed on your favorite perfume (my personal favorite here) and … reach for a mask?
This year, you may be wondering, “How can I make Valentine’s Day special?” Especially if it’s your first. It may feel a little impossible.
But our current world climate does not mean you and your partner can’t celebrate. Skip going out and plan a perfectly romantic evening at home. You can still dress up. You can still get glam. And you can still turn the heat all the way up. Nothing’s stopping you — you just have to get a little creative!
Ingredients:
A smoking hot dress
That too-fancy jewelry you never wear
Makeup capable of destroying nations
Enough candles to make the Phantom of the Opera jealous
Wine. And then also more wine.
A delicious meal — even better if you did not cook it
Something decadent you can eat with a shared fork.
Charcuterie because nothing says romance like small cheeses
Spotify tuned to your favorite channel (unless your favorite channel is death metal, in which case, well, you do you)
Dare we say, negligee?
Instructions:
Set your table with beautiful china. Light some candles. You can even take the celebration outside, if the weather permits. If you love to cook, go ahead and prepare something delicious. Personally, I love pasta for Valentine’s, paired with some red wine. Or, if you don’t enjoy cooking, order in from your favorite restaurant. Go ahead and splurge for a special night!
After dinner, get creative. Turn on a slow song, dance, and have fun. Or, if you’re like me, get cozy in pajamas, pull out some board games, a pre-prepped charcuterie board, more wine, and cozy up by the fire.

The last year has been difficult. But that’s all the more reason to lavish some love and attention on your life partner! Keep things warm and loving at home; and don’t be afraid to go that extra mile for each other. It will improve your relationship and improve your mood outside the home as well.
